The Future of Money
by Paul B. Hartzog

Paul examines the changing nature of money and what might be in store for
the currency of tomorrow.

"Money is a fascinating topic. It can be exchanged for goods and services.
It carries cultural and historical significance - for example, the
Confederate currency of the U.S. Civil War era. Money can be a symbol of
political dominance, as is the U.S. dollar worldwide. Money is often tied to
feelings of national and political identity: witness the U.K.'s reluctance
to adopt the Euro. Money is even collected for its intrinsic worth. How many
of us have a jar of coins from our travels? But the role and nature of money
is undergoing profound changes as a result of the confluence of information
technologies, virtual communities, and mobile access."

Code 46
DVD reviewed by Donald Melanson

Michael Winterbottom's independent science fiction film was largerly
overlooked in theatres, but deserves a second chance on DVD.

" Michael Winterbottom's Code 46 has a lot more in common with the science
fiction movies of the 1970s than it does with today's standard fare. It is a
pensive and deliberately paced film. No, it's not a long movie (just about
spot on 90 minutes), but there's not a lot of plot filling up that running
time. Code 46, however, is not a film overly concerned with plot. That
statement alone may turn a lot of people off this movie, but hopefully it
piques the interest of just as many."
